PILATES: MAT VS REFORMER

Many of you often ask me which “type” of pilates is most effective for your body. I will become graphic and I will tell you that whether you choose a mat or a reformer, with the right personal trainer you will see immediate results in your body. For me personally, the goals you have and of course the good guidance play a role.
So I will give you some information that could help you in your choices.

PILATES MAT

Pilates on a mat may sound dull and indifferent but with the right personal trainer
you would wish not to draw hasty conclusions.

Just because you have to control your body throughout the session
you will see a rapid and unexpected evolution in everything that the Pilates method offers. (See 3 Reasons to Do Pilates)
Because of this need to control the body,
it becomes an ideal type of exercise for beginners,
as they learn from the beginning to emphasize in the muscles that they work.
Likewise, “advanced” practitioners find it difficult to perform because they are forced to control
and coordinate their movements all the time.

PILATES: MAT VS REFORMER

PILATES REFORMER

Pilates on a “bed” attracts more interest, because it has equipment. But do not forget that many of the mat exercises are used on the reformer, as they are the basis of the whole method. In essence, with the reformer you do exercises with spring resistances. It is a suitable type of exercise for repairing injuries, as well as for people of all abilities and ages, because the springs of different resistances help to fluctuate the intensity and the range of motion. The prices of the sessions are much higher than those of the mat because the equipment has a serious cost and because the range of the exercises is much larger.
